Hi Robert,

It isn't possible to embed a Heights course itself inside another website. There are security reasons that limit possibilities of doing something like this. While you could easily add links on another website that direct to a landing page, lesson, community post, or anywhere else in your program, it isn't possible to embed your Heights site itself.

If you can share more about what you are looking to accomplish, ourselves or others might be able to chime in with recommendations.

Thank you!

Hey,
I understand that.
I was asking because I am thinking on getting this appsumo deal. Genesiv (for managing a community and they allow community owners to embed things like website, youtube playlist and more directly into specifit channels.

An being able to have my student sign in into only one location would be ideal. especially since they hace both desktop and mobile apps.

@heights-platform So I am able to embedded the course by using my link. I do get the long in page but then I get the following error.

Yes, I understand your question. You receive this error because we do not support embedding Heights in other websites for security reasons.

We don't plan to offer an integration with Genesiv at this time as we already have a built-in community feature (what you are posting in right now). Our community feature does allow automatic embedding from about 2000 different websites, and if you use it then you can have one sign in for your members to access your community, courses, projects, digital products, and more.

Is there a specific reason you would consider a service like Genesiv? Is it that you are looking for more real time communication like Discord or Slack than what our community feature offers?

Thank you!

I understand, could this be something to be considered in the future?

Although I do like the community features we are using. I dont find it entirely user friendly and intuitive.

The appeal of Genesiv, is that I could potentially house everything there. Their iframe and embedded channels allows for website and YouTube l. So my students would not need to log into multiple websites. Also along with this still of communication I wanted a real time medium.
They also have real time translating so every user can communicate in the language they are most comfortable with.
I can also restrict channels so thr goal would be to have a channel per cohort since I will be using the challenges feature and the have global channels.
The goal for my community is to have a free tier, a community paid tier and then student from my program which would be the highest tier.
Lastly there is desktop app and they are working on a mobile app.

I am typing this on my phone right now and it works fine but there is something to be said about apps at least when learning or communicating from a handheld device.

Thanks for the feedback @robert-johnson!

Yes, we have recorded your request and will definitely keep it in mind!

If it helps, you can embed anything you want in either the video area of a lesson or the lesson content itself in Heights, that includes an iframe to another full website if you need.

With our community feature you can also restrict channels per cohort. For example, what we do in our community here is have some free channels like #General here, but then also have the "Heights Creators" channels only visible to our subscribers and "T-30 Community" channels only visible to those who have purchased that course.

Students can potentially have multiple active subscriptions to different offerings and if they cancel or their payment fails they automatically have access to that content revoked without any work on your end.

The real time and automatic translation features are interesting and we could understand why you'd want to use that along with an app. We have some more real-time features under consideration, but one of the concerns is the increased burden of moderation for creators as things like Discord or Slack will eventually need someone to be a dedicated moderator after the community grows big enough.

Thanks again for the feedback!

@heights-platform, thanks for engaging with me about this.
I am looking forward to seeing how real-time features may be implemented. I agree with your concern about having a moderator. Maybe gathering feedback from current heightsplatform users who also manage a community might help shed some light on the matter.

For me, the way I am thinking of hiving my community, I can make use of both styles of communication. But that is assuming if I have one at all, I like the idea of having a community and the value it provides, but honestly that is out of my wheelhouse.

Also, being that my course is centered on entrepreneurship, some students may not want to share and engage. But ultimately, that decision will be based on the needs and wants of my students.

But knowing that I can embed entire website is pretty cool, is there a tutorial on doing that?

To embed a site you can simply put its URL in an iframe tag and past that in the lesson embed code area or the video player embed code field of your lesson.

IE:

<iframe src="https://www.mysite.com" width="100%" height="600px"></iframe>

Many sites will have security policies that don't allow this if they aren't designed to be embedded so it is up to how the site itself works.

We've been working on a prompt for ChatGPT to share with creators that can help them make more customizations like this with custom code in their Heights account without having to be or hire a developer.

I been a while but I was wondering if there is an update on the real time featues that were under consideration?

Just curious to be honest.

@robert-johnson there is still work happening on this, and it is still planned! We don't have more to announce about it right now, but our old roadmap where you might have seen something about this mentioned has not been updated.

Instead since we've been working on more frequent releases we have been mentioning them in our newsletters like last week's announcement of the Heights AI lesson review feature, and our priorities did shift a bit at the end of 2022 with the development of our AI features.

All of our creators have been so great at constantly providing feedback that we didn't feel a public roadmap was necessary for that. Also because we currently have hundreds of ideas and improvements big and small still planned and in development.

We release minor updates almost daily and work to summarize all the major updates in our newsletters. In fact since the AI lesson review announcement less than a week ago, we've already released the following:

  1. Bundle membership setting
  2. Major improvements to Heights AI Chat's training data and accuracy
  3. Ability to display PDFs directly on your lessons for students

Would you still prefer to see an updated roadmap to check in on, or would it be helpful if we published a changelog page inside your Heights account where you could find details of the latest updates?

@heights-platform
Thank you for the update!

I did not know that there was a news letter. I do not think that the road map is need if there other means of keeping on changes. A change page sounds cool also, but it does sounds like more work; and I think that energy is better spent on improvement.

So In short whichever was take up the least amount a resources but keeps us informed gets my vote.

PS. where can I sign up for the news letter

We checked and you are already subscribed to our newsletter! So you should be receiving that and last Thursday you should have received one about the AI lesson review feature.

If you feel you aren't getting them, please double check your spam, and reach out to our team at [email protected] and we can check in case there might be a typo in your email or something like that.

I appreciate that feedback. The changelog might not be too difficult for us because we are recording all of those updates internally already and we mentioned most of them in the newsletters. This would just be putting them in one more place to help people stay up to date so we'll consider that!
