I believe that now more than ever, you should never be afraid to post more than you are comfortable with.

I am in a Monday business mastermind Zoom group, and we were talking about marketing what we do. The first question was:

  1. Create a list of places where you market yourself. So for me, it was LinkedIn (and other social media platforms), email lists, newsletters, blogs, network events, and WhatsApp etc.

Because cold selling is difficult, make use of people you know. Create a list of everyone you know, including friends and family. Contact every single person, make a deadline offer, and ask them to forward it to others they know. Create a sense of urgency e.g. Limited time offers, Early Bird Specials.

Use AI to help with your marketing messaging. I've found this very useful, as I'm not a natural marketer or seller, so I find this a bit challenging.

The second question that was posed to our group on Monday was

  1. Think of every single reason why someone wouldn't want to buy your course, genuine or not (stalling tactics). We came up with time, not sure of the value, trust, credibility, need to think about it, cost, etc., and think of ways to counter those objections as part of your marketing. Does your course, for instance, have payment installments?

I'm sure there are many more ideas in this group. At the moment for us, it's a real struggle so we're working on this a lot right now.

Hope that's given you a few ideas.

Those are great suggestions Catherine! We would add that as you are starting out, it is important to think of this as an iterative process. Most creators aren't wildly successful their first launch.

Instead they focus on getting even one or two customers, collecting feedback, improving their course and their marketing, and then repeating the process as they grow.

If those courses you plan to launch are not part of one membership/offer, but are multiple separate products, then we'd strongly recommend communicating about them to your audience at separate times.

If your potential customers have any confusion or uncertainty, it stops them from purchasing, and presenting too many offers/products at once can overwhelm and make them uncertain about what to choose.

I would aim to get one or two people in a beta program before your launch, get feedback from them and even give them everything for free in exchange for that early feedback and maybe a testimonial. Don't worry about losing the ability to sell to them later because there are countless others who can be your customers, and having that early feedback and testimonial(s) to show off will help attract those future customers!

Hope that helps!
